Our Story

At Modern & Neighborly Properties we’ve been doing property management since 2011. Since our establishment 14 years ago we’ve seen home prices double, and rents increase by over 50%. In this same span of time wages aren’t increasing which is leading to an affordability crisis for many hard-working Americans. Approximately 40% of Americans spend over 1/3 of their budget on housing. This leaves less money left over for all the other essentials of life and dramatically reduces the freedom people feel to do as they wish. We believe that by reducing the cost of housing we can increase standards of living. 

We believe that one of the fundamental ways to reduce housing costs is to reduce the size of the structure. Matt Bury, one of our members has gone all in to learn as much as he can about high quality, affordable housing. In February of last year, he moved from Minnesota to New Port, Tennessee to work at Incredible Tiny Homes, a leader in Tiny Home Construction. He went out there to learn as much as possible from this great group! Bringing only the possessions that could fit in his car, he went off to see what he could learn, and how he could help. In the last year he’s been doing whatever he can to help Incredible Tiny Homes and those living in these homes. Working on a variety of tasks such as building homes, making blueprints, and making service calls (helping customers with any issues they may encounter with their homes). He spent the last year living in his own Tiny House, located onsite at Incredible Tiny Homes.

Now that Matt has learned as much as he has about the fine details of tiny home construction, and has lived the Tiny House lifestyle, he’s starting this Tiny House community to allow others to join in the Tiny House lifestyle.
